Grave search

Frankfurt South Cemetery: find a grave using personal details, the grave reference and help from the administration.

Details to gather first

Record the full name, possible name variants, dates of birth and death, and any surviving documents. The most useful reference combines section, row and grave number.

Ask the administration

South cemetery district, Darmstädter Landstraße 229, 60598 Frankfurt am Main · phone +49 69 212-40354 or +49 69 212-33160 · friedhofsverwaltung.sued@stadt-frankfurt.de

Name the cemetery explicitly and distinguish it from similarly named sites. Ask for the complete grave reference, not only approximate directions.

On the grounds

Transfer the grave reference to the cemetery map. The interactive map helps with entrances and landmarks but does not replace a burial plan or official grave enquiry.

The official plan uses sections A to J. Ask for the complete section, row and grave number, and mark the destination on the PDF before travelling. During construction, the western main entrance is the most dependable reference for the administration and ceremonial hall; the Hainer Weg access remains closed until early 2027.

Name Südfriedhof Frankfurt explicitly rather than “Alter Sachsenhäuser Friedhof”. These are different cemeteries.
